Do you know that “My Way” is actually a French song?

Initially the song was written in 1967, and the melody had been composed along with a title in English called “For Me.” But Claude François, the French author and singer, suggested a new theme for the song. This new theme was inspired by the developments of his own romantic life since he was splitting with his girlfriend France Gall, another popular singer at this time.

While traveling to France, Paul Anka’s father discovered this huge hit under its French title “Comme d’Habitude.” By December 1968 the French artists couldn’t believe the telegram they received from Paul Anka, telling them that Frank Sinatra “The Voice” was going to record the song. Since then, thanks to the many American covers and re-makes, “Comme d’Habitude” has been the most exported French song of all time!
