French Election Hosts Romance as a Guest

If you ever doubted that France is the country of love and romance, here is some proof.

On May 7th 2017, French people have elected their new President of the French Republic in the second run of the elections.

The race was between the two candidates who passed the first turn of these elections: Ms. Marine Le Pen and Mr. Emmanuel Macron.

Beyond the passionate and intense debate related to the economical projects of these two major political parties, the public has been captivated by the story of an unprecedented romance throughout the campaign.

Indeed, at the age of 15, Emmanuel Macron met the one who became his spouse. Brigitte was a French literature teacher in charge of the high school acting club he belonged to. She was 39, married and the mother of three children. The relationship between the student and his teacher turned quickly into a courtship. At the age of 17 Emmanuel, who was overwhelmed by his feelings of love stated, “Whatever you do, I will marry you” … which he did 13 years later.

Ever since the result of the elections, the unique story of this non-conformist love that washes out and destabilized everything on its way, is at the front page of many magazines and the subject of most dinner conversations.

On May 17th 2017, Emmanuel 39 years old and Brigitte 63 years old, became the most glamorous French couple and a symbol of the power of love: Vive la France!
